I loved Pet Sounds, but I am unconvinced that this is the timeslot, or the format for him.

I can't yet comment, not having listend but I loved him when he did Ray D'arcy, even more than Ray D'arcy.

Thanks for stopping by Robert. I agree - wrong place, wrong time, wrong format.

Jo, give him a listen & see what you think. (9-12, weekdays 106-108 FM)

Orla Barry is a bacuous, horse-faced crein, so loved of "Lifestyle" programmers. She is a triumph format over intelligence. I once emailed her editor asking about an interview she did where (not for the first time) she had no idea about the subject matter.

i was told that as there was a bereavement in her family that week, Orla was not on top form.

I replied that her village must have been constantly struck by the plague, because she never has a clue, ever, unless she was talking to resident annoying queen about town, Ross Golden Bollocks.

bacuaous = vacuous when typed far too quickly.

You'll have to forgive me, there was a bereavement....etc

Roy, don't be too downhearted! Remember she still does Weekend Blend on Saturdays, which according to Newstalk's website, features a "frothy mix of lifestyle and chat".

"Join us shortly after 10am for Brunch when the important* issues of the weekend will be analysed by our always entertaining guests who try very hard not to talk with their mouths full of free scones from Avoca. *By important we mean Britney, Irish UFO's, the Crocs plague and Twink, obviously."

"On the last Saturday of every month Aisling McDermott from beaut.ie glides in to the studio smelling of roses to help the rest of us with our grooming conundrums. Whether it's unwanted nose hair, clumpy mascara, stubble rash or lip plumping dilemmas Aisling has all the answers and more importantly load [sic] of delicious prizes which can be grabbed by joining our Beauty Room."

I am not making this up.

Rob, in fairness to Orla, she never pretends to know anything about the subject matter. Which is just as well. Last week, discussing theatre she said "Is it pronouced David "MamAY" or David "MamET"? Kirsty Wark she ain't.
